Vonda Kae Eggleston

Vonda Kae Eggleston was born July 6, 1950 to Myron and Violet Barclay in Aurora, Illinois. She

died peacefully on September 22, 2026. Vonda grew up in Chico and Durham, California and

graduated from Durham High School in 1968. She earned an Associates degree at Butte Jr.

College in 1970 and then enrolled at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she

earned a Bachelors of Health Science degree in 1972.

After college, Vonda returned to California and started work in a doctor’s office. It was there that

she learned how to do EKGs on an older “antique” wooden box model the doctor had in the

office. She would go on to work for many years as an EKG tech in hospitals in Fresno and

Redding, California. Later, after moving to Utah and finishing her work in the medical field, she

worked as a crossing guard at an elementary school, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Vonda met her eternal companion Roice Brent Eggleston in 1975 at a Young Adult Fireside at

church. She bravely introduced herself to him - he did the same and then walked away. They

were later set up on a blind date by a friend, had a fun time and began to date and fell in love.

They were married on January 31, 1976 in the Oakland California Temple for time and all

eternity. Vonda and Brent had two sons, Ryan and Kyle. Vonda loved her family very much and

notwithstanding a busy work schedule and a lot of time devoted to service at church in various

callings, she always made time for her sons. She was constantly helping out in the classroom at

school, volunteering for various activities, helping with school work, leading Camp Fire boys and

girls programs and working with her sons (and other boys) in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Vonda loved music. She participated in many choirs in her youth in elementary, middle school

and high school. As a young adult, she joined a local chapter of “Up With People”. She enjoyed

singing about the good in people, our country and our freedoms. As an adult, she would

participate in church choirs as often as she could (especially at Christmas time) and particularly

loved to hear children sing.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong

testimony of and faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and developed a great love of service to others.

Vonda served faithfully in the church and did her best to love her fellow man and help them

come unto Christ. She also loved to research her family history and perform work for her

ancestors in the temple. Vonda often helped others in researching their family lines and

exploring the many places that research led to. Her dedication to the Savior and His gospel has

had and will continue to have a profound impact on her children, grandchildren and future

descendants.

She is survived by her sons, Ryan (Stacy) and Kyle (Sami); grandchildren Mercedes (Kyle),

Samuel (Lauren), Nelson, Izayiah, Bernice, Brooklyn, Emiyeah, Dee, Braden (Kristen), Bailey

(Levi), and Brittney (Zach); great-grandchildren Jax, Coy, Mason, Aspen, RaeLynn, and Emma;

sister Vicki Shirk. Preceded in death by her husband Brent, her parents and brother Daryl.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 300 Ridgecrest Dr,

Saginaw, TX 76179.
