Violet Lavelle Bailey passed peacefully at her home on November 16th 2015 in Denton TX at the age of 94. She was born December 28th 1920 in Bloomfield Iowa, daughter of Le Grande (Pat) and Nellie Buzard Van Horn. She married Jack Roger Bailey June 21st 1940. They had five children; Roger, Donna, David, Tommy and Charlotte. She was a loving wife, mother, home maker and occasionally worked outside the home as a cook in several restaurants in Kentucky and Texas.
She is survived by one sister Sally Kearse of Lancaster Missouri one son Tommy Bailey and wife of Calvert City Kentucky, 2 daughters Donna Cardwell and husband of Cape Girardeau Missouri and Charlotte Shropshire of Talihina Oklahoma; six beautiful grandchildren Jackie Lavelle, Robin Michelle, Christy Lynn, David R. Jr., Carol Ann and Christina Michelle and their families; eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She attended churches of her choice -Pentecostal and Baptist always jokingly saying “God don’t care what Church you go to just show up on Sundays when possible”. Violet is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, husband of 29 years, 2 sons Roger and David of Gilbertsville KY. grandsons David Jr. of Mayfield KY and Jason of Grand Rivers KY, and granddaughters Cynthia and Amanda of Gilbertsville KY.
She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Kirksey KY.
