Teresa Lee (Pitchford) Sweeten

January 31, 1951 — September 10, 2019

On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, Teresa Lee (Pitchford) Sweeten went to heaven to join her Mom, Dad, sister, and friend, and to rock her beloved babies that she had missed for so long. Teresa was born on January 31, 1951 in Pauls Valley, OK. She was the youngest of Bob and Clara Lee’s three children, although she and her brother, Dean, were often mistaken for twins. Her family grew up in the oil field and moved from town to town too many times to count. Teresa was a go-getter to say the least. As a young adult she spent many hours at the ranch working livestock after performing her duties as the Tax Assessor Collector of Edwards County (Rocksprings, TX). She then moved on to form Hydrocarbon Mud Logging, LLC where she proved “she could do anything a man could do” (and do it well). Eventually she ended up back in her hometown of Hennessey, OK where she dove head-first into the oil business. Her compassionate heart saw the need where ever she might be and was evident in the multitude of friends that became family to her. Teresa was preceded in death by three of her infant children: Baby Girl Hilliard, Caleb Creed and Charles Tanner Sweeten, her father Bob, mother Clara Lee, sister Anita Jones, and long-time friend Steve Wilson. She is survived by her daughter Sandy (Hilliard) Meeks and spouse Dusty, her grandchildren Ryan Taylor, Macee Taylor, Casen Meeks, and Taylor Meeks, her brother Dean Pitchford and spouse Terry, brother-in-law C.G. Jones, nieces and nephews Brandy Jones, Michael Jones and spouse Dawn, Amy Humphrey and spouse David, Jared Pitchford and spouse Sofia, aunts Barbara Brock, Lena Pitchford, uncles Mannie Turner and spouse Kathleen, Billy Turner and spouse Shirley, and her beloved cousins and extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28th at the pavillion located in the Hennessey Cemetery (Hennessey, OK) at 10:30 am with lunch to follow in the First Baptist Church of Hennessey Activity Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Hennessey.
