Shane Hayden Thompson

February 27, 1970 — September 15, 2024

Bedford, Texas

Born in 1970 in Fort Worth and raised in Colleyville, Shane passed away on September 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Shane was a 1989 graduate of Grapevine High School. He was a motorcross racer during high school which began his daredevil personality (he was known to ride his street bike at 160 mph and his Porsche at 130 mph). He later graduated from Texas Tech University and then earned his Master’s Degree in engineering from SMU while working full time. He was an employee of Lockheed Martin for 15 years where he built many close friendships with his coworkers.

Shane was multi-talented. He was a talented artist throughout his life. He was an avid collector of anything with a motor; at last count, 2 boats, 12 dirt bikes, a Harley Davidson, 4-wheelers, monster truck, SUV, and of course his favorite, his 1986 911 Porsche. He enjoyed Harley Davidson rides with his friends to different parts of the United States.

He had many interests, but the role he absolutely cherished the most was that of a father. There was no doubt that he was the proudest father of his amazing smart, kind, athletic, thirteen-year-old son, Miles.

Shane is survived by his cherished son, Miles Thompson of Fort Worth; mother, Donna Thompson of Colleyville; father, Rudy Thompson and wife, Glenda of Lake Worth; sister, Traci Parker and husband, Richard of Frisco; nieces and nephews: Nick Parker and wife, Jilian and their children, Reese and Greyson; Kelsey Gaston and husband, Shawn and their children, Parker and Walker; Lyndi Mick and husband, Brandon and their children, Brooklyn and Bodee; and Cole Parker; extended family members and too many friends to count.

A memorial service to celebrate Shane’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 27, 2024 at White’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 185 S. White Chapel Blvd., Southlake, Texas 76092. The service will be in their Grace chapel with reception following in the adjoining Foundry building.
