Sandra Ivey Hines Goheen

December 27, 1946 — April 28, 2021

Sandra Ivey Hines Goheen, 74 years of age, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas. Sandy was born on December 27, 1946, in Hattiesburg, MS to James W. and Dorothy (Mills) Ivey.  She grew up in a military family and was the oldest of five children. She had a very large extended family who she also adored.  Later in life, she attended Northwestern State University, and enjoyed her career as a nurse.  Her passion was Psychiatric Nursing and she helped many families over the years.

Sandy professed her life to Christ in her late teens and used her God-given gift of teaching in Women’s, Children’s and Prison ministries, just to name a few. She was well known for being able to pull off the last-minute ministry event with flair.  She loved to entertain her church family or those visitors/strays that she felt needed friendship.  She also enjoyed singing in the church choirs at Richardson Church of the Nazarene, Huntington Park Church of the Nazarene and Saint Stephens Methodist Church.

Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her lifelong hobbies were cooking wonderful meals, landscaping for a beautiful outside space, decorating for a gorgeous inside space, and painting nature scenes.  She loved traveling with Mike, spending time at their lake house in New York, music, shopping, reading, watching movies, shoes and was always up for some fun when her children were small.  She had tried to make everything they did an adventure with a lesson. From bible dinners or family devotions to fun vacations. Sandy loved the holidays, reunions, and any other opportunity to gather with family to share a fabulous meal and make lasting memories.  She has passed this onto her children, bonus children and the grandkids.  She adored her grandchildren like no other.

Sandy is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; sons Darin (Bonnie) Hines and James (Christine) Hines; daughter, Dawn Hines; stepson Patrick (Diane) Goheen; brothers, Roger (Brenda) Ivey and Ricky (Susan) Ivey; sister, Cindy (Donnie) Boles; 10 grandchildren: Jamie, Mazden, Tanner, Brody, Jobe, Audrey, William, Kade, Ryann Grace, and Christopher. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James W. Ivey, Jr.

A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Bear Creek Bible Church, 1555 N. Tarrant Parkway, Keller, Texas. A lunch reception follows the service at 313 Calais Drive, Keller, Texas.
