Robert "Mike" Michael Doyle Lilly II

Robert "Mike" Michael Doyle Lilly II passed away on March 13, 2026, after a life filled with dedication, laughter, and love. He was born on September 11, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas to Eloise Lilly and Robert Lilly.

He married the love of his life, Mary Lilly, on January 30, 1999, beginning a devoted partnership that would last for the rest of his life.

Following his graduation from high school, Mike pursued a career in law enforcement, attending both the Dallas Sheriff’s Academy and the Fort Worth Police Academy. He went on to serve his community with honor and commitment for 32 years, including 25 years with the Fort Worth Police Department. His service was marked by professionalism and excellence, earning him the distinction of Officer of the Year.

Outside of his career, he embraced life fully. He had a deep love for sailing, enjoyed playing poker with friends, and was a devoted fan of Jimmy Buffett. A passionate firearms enthusiast, he was also a certified handgun instructor and took great pride in both teaching and practicing shooting, whether at the range or on occasional hog hunts.

Mike was known for his vibrant personality—someone who truly was the life of the party. He cherished time with his friends, often gathering to socialize and share laughter. He was also a loving husband and a devoted pet owner, caring deeply for his dogs and cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eloise and Robert Lilly.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lilly; his stepson, Christopher Carlson, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Carlson; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless colleagues and friends whose lives he touched.

He lived by the words of Jimmy Buffett:

“Some of it’s magic, some of it’s tragic, but I’ve had a good life along the way.”

His legacy of service, friendship, and joy for life will be remembered always.
