Richard Eugene Smith, born on June 6, 1951, in Ripley, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, and brother whose presence touched the lives of many.

Richard was a devoted family man, deeply cherished by his wife Essie Maude Walters of Fort Worth. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared memories. He was a proud father to his daughter, Susan Morgan, who resides in Fort Worth with her husband, Blake Throckmorton. Richard also leaves behind his son Monte Parker and Monte's wife Kimberly, who live in College Station. His family circle was further enriched by the support and companionship of his brother Eddie Smith and Eddie’s wife Lesta, both of Fort Worth.

He was predeceased by his dear mother, Goldie Jane Smith, and father, Walter Eugene Smith, as well as by his brothers Terry Smith and Randy Smith. Their memories remain an integral part of Richard's life story and continue to be honored by those who knew him.

A memorial service to celebrate the life and legacy of Richard Eugene Smith will be held at 2:00 PM, May 16, 2026 at Alpine Funeral Home, located at 2300 N Sylvania Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76111. Friends and family are invited to gather and reflect on the many ways Richard enriched their lives. Following the service, the family will be receiving loved ones at Richard and Essie’s home for a time of gathering and fellowship.

Richard’s journey was marked by kindness, steadfast dedication to his family, and a quiet strength that inspired those around him. His loss is deeply felt, yet his spirit will remain vividly alive in the hearts of all who knew him. As we remember Richard Eugene Smith, we honor a life well lived and a man profoundly loved.
