Nola Jean Stephens, born Nola Jean Cook on February 8, 1940. Passed away to be with our Lord on October 5, 2025. We will forever remember her ease at talking to anybody, her way that she could joke with people and make them smile, but she could also use her wittiness and be very tactful to get her point across!
Nola was born in Eddy, Oklahoma to Charles and Bessie Cook during a blizzard at her aunt's house. Two years later her sister Ella Rose was born. They lived in Blackwell, Oklahoma, where she attended school until her graduation from Blackwell High School in 1958. She had been working at a local diner, when she met and fell in love with the love of her life! She married Ralph Stephens on January 29, 1960, and they were married for 60 years until his passing on February 6, 2020. During their marriage they had three children, Tina, Marlo, and Jeffrey. She was a housewife until her husband told her she couldn't get a job! But she went out to prove him wrong, and she had several jobs, but she stayed with the Fort Worth School District the longest. She worked at JP Elder Middle school cafeteria and retired after 27 years. While there she earned local recognition from the Mayor of Fort Worth, and they would ask her to make dinner rolls, cakes, cinnamon rolls and pastries for special events in Fort Worth. Her family already knew she was a good cook, and she passed some of those talents down to her children and Grandchildren!
Nola loved to travel and vacation. A lot of her vacations were spent with family and occasionally Friends. Nola and her husband loved to go fishing in the earlier years but in the later years they enjoyed going to their time-share with family. Nola and Ralph also enjoyed antiquing! They enjoyed searching for and shopping antique malls, yard sales, and loved going to Trade Days in Canton, Texas. Nola also surprised some of the family by watching sports and could talk trash with the best of them! She loved watching the OU football games and the Kansas City Chiefs!
But the most important part of her life was her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren! You could always count on her to send you a Birthday card!
