Nita Darlene Dillon Massey

Darlene was the youngest of four children. Her daughter, Starr, was her world. She often bragged about how good a cook Starr is and adored her daughter. She was so proud of Starr when she made her first pecan pie. “Buzz” was the love of her life and her best friend even when apart. She was always filled with joy even in tough times. She loved watching horror movies with the children in the family and attending wrestling with her mom. She had an unusual palette and would introduce strange foods to her nieces, Tabitha and Aliandra, such as hot dog wieners and peanut butter, and she did not care if others thought she was weird. She always had a jar of pickles by her side. Her nephew, Hunter, said he was her buddy, and she would share her snacks with him when he spent the night. She never met a stranger. She had a kind and loving heart. She collected dolphins and throughout her life she had 2 favorite colors; red growing up and purple as she got older. She was strong and never let you see her cry even at her lowest. She didn’t have the easiest life but she never complained. She was a very faithful friend and loved the Lord. We thank God that he blessed us with Darlene for 58 years and she is loved and will be missed.

Darlene is survived by her daughter Anita Starr Massey, her ex-husband Michael Leon Massey “Buzz”, her sister Debra Kay Dillon Moore, her nieces and nephew Paula Rachelle Moore Mabunga, and Joseph Paul Moore, her great nieces and nephews Tabitha AliShay Shelby, Aliandra Etter Mae Marie Shelby, Colton Joe Lincoln Moore, Dillon Jacob Moore, Joseph Paul Moore Jr., Hunter Edward Kai Mabunga, and her great-great niece Luna Rose Ordaz.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Van Dillon and Mary Joyce Dillon, and her brother Alvin Joe Dillon.

Her family prayed for healing and God granted his ultimate healing. She is now home with him without pain and suffering. She will forever be loved, remembered, and missed.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
