It is difficult, at best, to honor Michael Gilbertson in words. They frequently fall short of capturing some ones true essence. He was a loving, giving, simple man. Tears and smiles should be of joy because of the permanent mark he left on our minds, heart, and souls. He was a greatness that we will all miss. His presence made the world a brighter and better place.
Michael was born on Dec. 7, 1958 in Missouri to Ann and Bob Gilbertson. He was the brother to six siblings, Linda, Glenda, Debbie, Dale, Dixie and Scott. Two sister in laws, Jan and Tricia. He was Uncle Mike to numerous nephews and nieces. He loved them all dearly, as they loved him.
During his musical career he played in several bands with some of the best musicians in Texas. Some of those bands were "The Gigilos", "Dickey and the Valentions" ,"Tim Wooley and the Shakers","OuttathaBox", "Powerline", and many more. He traveled thru Texas and other states sharing his talent and love for music. He adored it , music fullfilled his soul like no other.
Michael met the love of his life, Deborah in 2011. They fell in love at first sight. On their first date he bought her an orange rose, little did he know it was her favorite color. After a great dinner they settled down and bonded thru music.
In June of 2017 we found out that Michael had cancer. He fought like no other. He didn't complain, stayed strong and stood proud. He did not allow the disease to cripple his love for others or to shatter any hope. Michael found Jesus before he died. He is no longer in pain, and is flying high with beautiful Angels in heaven and surrounded with the glory of God.
A memorial service will be held at Alpine Funeral Home 2300 North Sylvania, Ft Worth, Tx on May 19th from 10am to 12PM.
