Merlin Gayle Holloway, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on December 5, 1934, in Jewell County, Kansas, Merlin lived a life filled with faith, music, and community.
Merlin was born and raised in Jewel County Kansas until he joined the Army in 1955. From there, his work took him to Joplin MO and ultimately to Texas where he worked at Murdock Engineering doing quality control for space shuttle parts.
A man of many passions, Merlin was an avid stamp collector, proud member of the Masonic fraternity and the Memory Singers. He also enjoyed playing softball and games, always with a fun, yet competitive spirit.
Merlin’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, June Holloway; his son, James Holloway; daughters, Roma Ramer and Karla Scheibelhut; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, who will all carry forward his legacy of kindness and joy.
Merlin’s life was a song of love, laughter, and service—one that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Funeral services will be held June 5th at 11:15 a.m. at the DFW National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 75211 https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/DallasFtWorth.asp
A celebration of his life will take place at 1:00 p.m., following the service, at the First Methodist Church of Mansfield, located at 777 N. Walnut Creek Dr., Mansfield, TX 76063.
