Kuristan Tanae Carter was born on September 20, 1978, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and went home to be with her Lord on October 9, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 47.
Kuristan, a Baton Rouge native with a bright spirit and a deep desire to create a better life for her and family, later migrated to Fort Worth, Texas, where she became a devoted employee of the AIDS Health Foundation. She was a faithful servant to her faith, family, and community—a true prayer warrior who touched countless lives with her powerful voice and generous heart. Known for her class, grace, and impeccable style, Kuristan carried herself with dignity and spread love wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dave Carter; maternal grandparents, Ophelia London and Allen Young; aunts, Joyce Ann London and Jessie Mae Broomfield; and nephew, Dondray London.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters: Kayla Carter Thomas, Ka’Lexis Carter, Kaliyah Wiggins, and Kelsey Wiggins; her devoted mother, Ophelia Ross; and her precious grandchildren: Kataleya, Ka’talya, Kameliah, and Ka’mia. She is also survived by her siblings: Cynthia Ross, Anthony Ross, Marchelle Jolla, and Robert Ross. Her legacy will continue to live on through a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her deeply.
Kuristan’s life was a reflection of unwavering faith, compassion, and strength. Her presence, her prayers, and her deep conversations will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Williams and Lucas Funeral Home located at 517 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth. Texas 76111. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Victoria Vaxter.
