Johnny V. Leija, age 62, passed away on October 26, 2025, one day before his 63rd birthday. He was born on October 27, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jose Enes and Romona Leija.

Johnny was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent many years as a salesman for Cargill, where his passion his work and his generous spirit made a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Known for his warm heart, determination, and sense of humor, Johnny faced every challenge – including his courageous battle with cancer- with strength and grace.

He loved life’s simple joys, especially carne guisada tacos from Nicha’s, and cherished time spent with his loved ones. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and work ethic will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Enes and Romona Leija; his sister, Adela; and his brother, Robert.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maricella Leija; his children, Vanessa (Zech) and John Michael (Norma), Jessica Alvarez, Alberto Contero (Wendy Vazquez); and his adored grandchildren, Jaxon, Isabella, Dante, Aubrey Santiago, Constanza, and Layla. He is also survived by his siblings Josie (Dennis), Tony (Lydia0, Raymond, Arnold, Enes (Lidia), Freddy, Benny (Sonia), and Dianne (Pedro); as well as many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

A viewing will be held at Alpine Funeral Home, 2300 N. Sylvania Avenue Fort Worth, Texas 76111, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Funeral services in San Antonio will be announced at a later date.

Johnny’s life was a testament to perseverance, generosity and love-a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
