Jeffrey John Johnston

February 16, 1943 — July 31, 2022

Jeffrey John Johnston February 16th, 1943 – July 31, 2022 Born in Los Angeles, California to Loren and Rose Johnston. He was the second youngest “J” of 5 children. He graduated from Arcadia High School in Arcadia, California in 1960. He enjoyed Glee Club. In November of 1962 he enlisted in the United States Army. Stationed in Pinder Kaserne, Landshut Germany as part of the B Btry 6th Missile Bn 61st artillery division working on missiles. After his time in the Army, the family left Southern California to move to Northern California. There he used his engineering background to begin a fifteen year career with Olivetti in South San Francisco as a Senior Customer Engineer. He was known to be able to “fix” anything. This job allowed him to meet some very famous people including one very annoying mime (Robin Williams). In 1984 he transferred with a new company Decision Data Services to Arlington Texas and enjoyed 7 years until the company closed due to changes in technology. It was during this time that he found a new career in trucking. The job allowed him to see the United States which he enjoyed and visit family. The grandkids always loved seeing grandpa and his big truck. Known as a Jokester to all – his sense of humor and laughter was a loved characteristic and will be missed by so many. Not only did he love to make people laugh he loved to work out, play pool, watch movies and eat pizza. Survived by his daughter Sylvia who will always remember as a little girl special early morning breakfast just her and her dad with coffee-even though it was mostly milk and sugar. Son Jeffrey Jr. and wife Deanna will miss the “singing” Birthday calls and the “silly smirk” he always had on his face when he thought he was pulling a fast one on you! Daughter Tina will miss daily phone calls talking about movies and the time spent on the phone during her road trips making sure to direct her travels. Son Matthew will always remember riding shot gun on the drive to Texas. They enjoyed many sights along the way. It was just the two of them for three days, the best road trip of Matts life. Additionally, he had many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He also had his cats Yami and Mia. The family would also like to add a special thank you to Dr. Batrice, Medical Center Arlington ICU, and Kindred Hospital for their wonderful care.
