Florence "Lynn" Czekaj

Florence Lynn Czekaj passed away May 7, 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 101 years old.

Lynn was born July 29, 1923 in Denison, Texas to the late Moody and Zella Mack. In 1940, she married Dick Hall and they had a son, Rich. Being in the heavy construction business, the family followed the job living in a trailer, mostly all of Texas in Oklahoma. In the late 1940’s, they built a home in Pleasant Mount near Garland, but shortly after they divorced.

Lynn being a single mom move to Dallas to further her education which helped her achieve positions at TI, General Motors and once even owned a gas station.

Lynn was always very independent and was a woman ahead of her time. In the 1940’s, she learned to fly and in the early 1950’s she purchased a home of her own which was unheard of for a single woman.

In 1961, she met and married Sid Czekaj. Together they owned and operated a very successful foreign automotive business in Dallas, Sid’s German Automotive. They worked side-by-side for a number of years and through their successful business were able to retire early and enjoy years of good times and extensive travel until Sid’s passing in 2006. At that point, Lynn moved to Fort Worth to be near her family.

Lynn loved artwork from a young girl when she would draw cartoons. Later on, she became a very accomplished artist and taught art at Dallas Community College while winning many awards for her artwork.

Lynn is survived by her son, Rich Hall and wife, Donna; granddaughters, Dawn Hall and Shawn Stephens and husband Jeff; three great granddaughters; six great-great grandchildren; and stepson, Harold Czekaj and wife, Gail.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Sherman.
