Obituary

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Demarcus Shawn Lee, who departed this life on Saturday, September 26, 2026, just four days before his 42nd birthday.

Born on September 30, 1984, in Midland, Texas, Demarcus was a loving son, devoted father, caring brother, proud grandfather, and beloved uncle who brought light, laughter, and joy wherever he went.

Demarcus was the beloved son of Ira June Lee, née Jenkins, and Wayne LeTruce Lee. He believed in working hard, enjoying life, and making the most of every moment. He had a special way of making people laugh, feel comfortable, and grateful to have known him.

He was especially proud to be the father of his beloved daughter, Shawn Amari Lee. In 2026, he received one of life’s most precious promotions—becoming a Papa to his grandson, Roman Alexander Williams, Jr., affectionately known as RJ. Though his time as a grandfather was far too short, becoming Papa was a beautiful and treasured chapter of his life. His love for his daughter and grandson will remain an everlasting part of his legacy.

Demarcus was deeply loved by his sister, LaTrika Peoples, and was a beloved uncle to Maiya Peoples and Donnie Peoples, II, and a great-uncle to Theo and Khairi. He was the kind of uncle who made sure there was always room for laughter, fun, and unforgettable memories.

He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved daughter, Shawn; grandson, RJ; parents, Ira June and Wayne LeTruce Lee; sister, LaTrika Peoples; niece, Maiya Peoples; nephew, Donnie Peoples, II; great-nephews, Theo and Khairi; and a host of family and friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

Demarcus was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Florene Johnson, affectionately known as Nannie, and his paternal grandmother, Lillie Mae Lee, affectionately known as Granny.

Demarcus lived a life marked by hard work, family, laughter, and a determination to enjoy life. Though his physical presence is gone, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

His family will remember his laughter. His daughter will remember her father. His grandson will grow up knowing the love of his Papa through the stories and memories shared about him. His nieces, nephews, and great-nephews will remember their fun uncle and great-uncle. And his parents and sister will forever carry the love of their son and brother in their hearts.

Though we would have loved more time, we are grateful for the time we were given.

Rest peacefully, Demarcus. Your life was a blessing, your memory is a treasure, and your absence will be deeply felt.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever a part of us.
