Blaza 'Blanch' Tyler

November 20, 1937 — February 19, 2019

Blaza ‘Blanch’ Tyler

Blanch loved to smile, laugh, and have a good time! She had a never-ending desire to socialize and be in the middle of the action. She knew how to have fun. Her father died in a car accident when she was a teenager. As she was the oldest of 5 children, she started working at that time to help support the family. Blanch earned a Master’s degree and worked for over 50 years as a medical technologist. Her sense of family remained vital as evidenced by her family nickname of "Buddy." Buddy was always ready for a family trip to Las Vegas or Disney World. Blanch, and her devoted husband of 51 years, Frank, moved to Fort Worth from Kansas City, Missouri in 2007. She quickly started building relationships and contributing to the community. She volunteered at the West Aid food bank, as well as serving as a Long-term Care ombudsman for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Her ability to speak Spanish served her well in both positions. Blanch was even recognized as an "Exceptional Advocate" award winner by the State of Texas. Her desire to help and care for others was always in action. Blanch was also enthralled by the political process. In 1992, she was an alternate delegate from Missouri at the Republican National Convention. Blanch was also appointed by the governor to serve on the Missouri Commission on Human Rights. She had been an active member of the Fort Worth Republican Women’s Organization. Her greatest legacy, however, is a lifetime of sowing love. She didn’t speak much about it other than to always say "Be kind." Her actions to help, serve, and advocate for others spoke louder than any words could ever speak. Blanch’s physical body left us on February 19, 2019 – 63 years to the date of her father’s death. Her message of caring and serving carries forth. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1st at 10am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 6150 Pershing Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76107 followed by a come and go Celebration of Life from 11:30am to 3:30pm at the Residence Inn by Marriott, 2500 Museum Way, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to all those at The Stayton who took care of her the past three years with so much love, compassion, and gentleness.
